/ Ahead of tomorrow’s Kansas primary, Trump has endorsed @KrisKobach1787. We’ve written a few things about him.

🌩️
/ Last week, we published a joint investigation with the @KCStar detailing Kobach’s track record defending the immigration ordinances of small towns. The towns lost millions of dollars. He rose to fame. propub.li/2Oh6kAB
/ Kobach didn’t like our story. He issued a set of nine corrections to us and to other Kansas media. We responded, point by point: propub.li/2vmOJjX
/ For years, Kobach claimed there was mass illegal voter registration in KS. In June, he was handed a big defeat: A fed judge ruled he hadn’t proven his claim and ordered him to take 6 hours of continuing legal education for botching courtroom procedure. propub.li/2KxzIR1
/ He also led Trump’s voter fraud commission. Friday, hundreds of the commission’s documents were released. Guess what? They show the commission didn’t really have any “initial findings” of voter fraud to turn over to DHS like Trump claimed. propub.li/2OKGENQ
/ Requests for comment sent to both the White House and Kobach have not yet been returned.
/ The commission’s only known act was to request publicly available voter rolls. It was widely considered a fiasco. Kobach drafted the letter asking for the data w/ the help of 2 ppl who weren’t on the commission, while actual commissioners were excluded. propub.li/2Ktmo01
/ While running Trump’s voter fraud commission, Kobach and the other members exclusively used private email accounts. They claim this was normal. We reported that it was not. propub.li/2vlnsy2
/ Finally, while Kobach was head of the commission & Kansas Sec of State, he promoted Crosscheck—a program that matches state voter rolls to find double registration. It had gaping security flaws & could have put millions of people’s info at risk. propub.li/2OhNEB0
/10 Crosscheck assures states that it employs “industry standard encryption technology and passwords.”

The Kansas secretary of state’s office did not respond to emailed questions about Crosscheck’s security.
