Indeed: The "blocker generation" has different identity challenges, says a gender specialist who sees this kids in her practice. NO ONE in the thread expresses the slightest concern re: the obvious confusion this child will experience--let alone the ethics of early transition
Sage advice: Make sure the child is around plenty of trans adults; avoid "medical gatekeepers"; join an organization of other parents who plan to sterilize and drug their kids.
If your 8-yr-old autistic child balks at blockers, you can maybe just go straight to cross-sex hormones. The "only drawback" might be insufficient penile growth for later SRS surgery.
Confirmation that the cowboy/girl clinicians in the US are frequently skipping blockers ("widespread practice") and going straight to cross-sex hormones, against current international standards. Oh but that will change with SOC 8. Smiley face.

Ms. Jackson, a self-described conservative Christian (the same population trans activists routinely deride--except when they are used as mascots) is a well known public speaker and promoter of pediatric transition.

The Transgender Health Facebook page is public, accessible to anyone. These individuals are actively promoting the idea that young kids with ASD are appropriate candidates for social and medical transition. Where is the data, evidence, & the ethical basis for this?

It needs to be understood that these parents & activists are not outliers. They are at the heart of the US pediatric-transition movement. Jo Olson-Kennedy has the busiest child transition clinic in the US, and Debi Jackson is an activist-leader influencing many other parents.

1/ In 2015, the mother of a young adult w/Down Syndrome fundraised for "top surgery," even when her daughter was in ICU w/serious health issues. Those of us who uncovered/revealed it in 2015 assumed it would peak-trans many people. No one, outside a few blogs, said a word.
(This is the archived GenderTrender post from 2015, which gives the whole story of the fundraising campaign for double mastectomy for a Down Syndrome patient in the ICU, and Olson-Kennedy's involvement in it).

Anyone who knows anything about Down Syndrome will be aware that people who have it often also have many serious comorbid health problems--problems severe enough to land someone in an intensive care unit.

Here's an idea: Trans activists could campaign to get TSA to hire more trans security officers to perform searches on trans passengers. Why is it that women (in this case, female TSA agents) are always the ones who have to just suck it up & bear the brunt of trans outrage?
A true trans rights movement would campaign for solutions w/out taking away other ppl's rights. Instead, it's always about centering trans ppl, usually at women's expense. And in the case of TSA, at the expense of public safety. Guess what: hijackers hide stuff in the groin area.

This is only an extreme example of something getting more common by the day. One news story in the US (if we even get one) isn't enough. A brave editor (in MSM not blogs or rightwing outlets) must stand behind their journos & take this on as a regular beat--like @thetimes

The one autism & parenting approach I want folks to absorb for 2019: if your #autistic child is violent or aggressive then that usually means something is really really wrong with them, health or environment-wise, and you really need to figure out what it is—for everyone’s sake.
It can be really, really hard to figure out the source of an autistic kid’s (or adult’s) extreme distress. But you know what makes it harder? People assuming aggression is "because of autism,” & not because something is wrong. And then so much avoidable suffering happens.
This is why you don’t want to listen to #autism “experts" who recommend “extinction,” punishments or aversives for kids who are aggressive, without even bothering to figure out why they might be in pain or other distress—because that is ignoring/punishing someone who needs help.

Thread for @PennyMordaunt. I am glad you are investigating the 4000% increase in girls reporting to gender clinics to change their bodies.

Your investigation needs to include a review of all the authoritative-looking materials (guidance for staff, and taught to children)
used to propagate the false belief that gender stereotypes are reality and that gender non-conforming kids can be “fixed” by changing their bodies to look like the opposite sex.

Some of the “charities” involved cause concern. As just one example, take LGBT Youth Scotland.
For those unfamiliar with the name LGBT Youth Scotland, it was previously run by the (now convicted) leader of a Scottish paedophile & child porn ring and is one of the “charities” providing dubious trans materials used in schools.
