2. Robert Byrd's explicitly racist policies that have been championed by any Democrat within the last 40 years.

NOTE: I'm aware that some of the Bill Clinton-era welfare reform/3 strikes policies were, in fact, systemically racist. I don't think that was the intent even if it was the consequence. It's not like Clinton's cabinet was loaded with racists and KKK members (4/5)
were lining up to applaud these policies. It was triangulation on Clinton’s & Dem’s parts to pass bipartisan legislation. I'm not sure if Byrd was some kind champion for those policies. I assumed he was a Murtha-type pork barrel horse-trader who tried to get funding to WV (5/5)
