BREAKING: Trump is planning to withdraw 2000 troops from Syria after tweeting that ISIS has been "defeated" in the country [it hasn't].

Lt. General @MarkHertling says the timing doesn't make sense but the decision will Russian, Bashar al-Assad, and Iran very happy.
Pentagon officials tried to talk Trump out of it, arguing that the withdrawal betray Kurdish allies who fought alongside US troops in Syria. One Defense Dept official suggested that Trump wants to distract from his legal challenges in recent days.
