2. When I needed to see orthopedic surgeons at VA between 2004 and 2016, I saw VA orthopedic surgeons. They had immediate access to all my VA records--including x-rays and MRIs.
3. Since 2016, I haven't seen a VA orthopedist. I've been sent twice to the private sector because of long lines. In neither case did the non-VA surgeon have access to VA radiology imaging.
4. In both cases they had to retake x-rays. The last private sector surgeon made a decision without ever seeing the MRI which VA had taken weeks earlier.
I'm fine, but that's not higher quality care than I was receiving from VA alone.
