A few wks ago new words in the wordclouds of our domestic subset of #Hamilton68 Russian sympathizer accnts appeared on the topic of abortion. President Trump has been bleeding support among evangelicals & campaigns #walkaway & #buildthewall have proved ineffective #infosec #osint
It makes sense the #GOP would go back 2 their time tested political issue of abortion. And in this case push the most emotionally charged fringe like late-term abortions. The #Hamilton68 subset focused on Russian geopolitics showed a steady uptick around the topic #infosec #osint
We also looked at another #Hamilton68 subset that focuses on US Politics and contains a high level foreign sourced accounts & saw the same thing. This subset showed a dramatic increase in terms like abortion and late-term abortion. Something we've not seen before #infosec #osint
With all the #hamilton68 propaganda accounts on the same page around this new focus on abortion related issues, it was not surprising to then see a post / meme like this one from an account purporting to be part of the @OANN (One America News Network). #infosec #osint
Only thing was, this account was a fake & not part of @OANN. We did a quick analysis of the account @oannewsfeed and determined it was tweeting at a non-human rate of 398 times a day. Thankfully the account was suspended by Twitter within the hour. #fakenews #infosec #osint
But of course we were curious about the origins of an image / meme like this. We turned to our friend & expert meme hunter @UShadrons for assistance. A google image search for this image gave us 100's of results, including this one from lizcrokin on Instagram on Jan 21st #osint
Within hours @UShadrons had sourced this meme (left image) to a #Qanon accnt @StormIsUponus that 1st posted this around Jan 14th. Watching the progression & echo-chamber in near real-time is fascinating. This is sure 2 be a consistent theme going forward #infosec #osint #psyops
The #Hamilton68 accounts and German Marshall Fund @gmfus are so inconsequential that the Russian APT hacker group Fancy Bear decided to target them a couple of months ago #infosec #opsec #disinfo
