Sport is about bodies, performance & fair competition. Male performance advantage can never be fully reversed so transwomen shouldn't compete in female competition. Not because they are trans. Because they have male bodies. @Martina @sharrond62 @damekellyholmes @Daley_thompson
2) The proportions of male skeletons are very different to female skeletons. Longer arms and legs compared to torso means males are better at running, jumping and throwing. This is not reversed by lowering Testosterone.
3) The male pelvis is narrower than a female pelvis. This means female legs are fixed at a wider angle than male legs. Even if a transgender cyclist lowers testosterone she will always pedal like a man. This is male performance advantage. Being trans doesn't and can't change this
4) Muscles trained on Testosterone never forget. Muscle memory means it is forever easier for male bodies to pack on muscle EVEN WHEN TESTOSTERONE IS REMOVED. This is male performance advantage. It the same reason why females who dope on T get banned. medium.com/@Antonia_Lee/m…
5) Washing out Testosterone from a male body will reduce SOME performance; muscle mass and number of red blood cells will drop. But partial loss of male performance advantage is not enough to make it fair for females. Male performance advantage CAN NEVER BE FULLY ELIMINATED.
6) IOC rule makers like Dr Eric Vilian know and acknowledge this inherent unfairness. "The goal is to create a pathway to include the transgender athlete, not create total equality". velonews.com/2018/10/news/c…
7) The factual discussion we need to have is being stifled by claims that even mentioning this is transphobic. Sarah Fader, a female cycling world record holder beaten by Trans cyclists Rachel McKinnon said this: velonews.com/2018/10/news/c…
8) Anyone speaking out on this gets unfairly vilified as transphobic and that has to stop. There is no hate here. Just a desire to open the space for a respectful and factual discussion on rules that aren't working.
9) At Fair Play For Women we want to help guide policy makers make rules that are fair for all. Please help us by contacting the governing body of your favourite sport & ask them to look again at their policy & that we are there to help. How to guide here fairplayforwomen.com/ngb_letters/
