None of the candidates had planned on speaking/attending. The fact that advocates are so focused on claiming this is a win instead of amplifying the voices of Palestinians under attack by Hamas in Gaza, speaks volumes on their lack of integrity.
The organizer of the protest against Hamas, Amin Abed, had to go into hiding. Journalists were detained and beaten. Protestors in Gaza deserve our attention and support in their fight for economic justice and civil liberties.
This is one of the more cynical and disturbing things I have seen in my career in advocacy. People are so busy claiming a win that never was, they have completely missed the real story unfolding in Gaza. What happens in Gaza this week could have rea consequences.
Regardless of how we feel about the conflict, we should all be standing with Gaza and amplifying the story of brave organizers and protestors taking on their cruel, corrupt, authoritarian government. AIPAC and Dems isn’t the important story of the conflict this week.
