.@Maddow & MSNBC pushed a conspiracy theory because it was great for ratings & the failed Democratic elites who lost to Trump. They showed contempt for their audience by ignoring the countervailing facts & those who pointed them out. Early signs are that viewers were catching on:
Yup: "According to network insiders, viewers can expect to hear less about Trump’s alleged collusion with Russians—which Barr has declared an investigative dead end—both from the cable outlet’s anchors and its paid contributors." 
Also Yup: "Several MSNBC employees... said although @MalcolmNance appears regularly across numerous shows on the network, many producers already had reservations about bringing him on, given his penchant for over-the-top rhetoric related the investigation."
