Something that i observed last year..when agitation was going on in tuticorin. Not only its a nexus of judicial activism and foreign funding of NGOs...there is missionary angle too.
NGO activism brings down India growth rate by 2-3% causing loss of $60 billion annually(equal to France defence budget)
Such activism also leads to change in demography of the region..industries bring jobs, thus industries & infrastructure development r counters for conversion
1. Aluminium project by vedanta in kalahandi was brought to dead by such activism
- 2003 sterlite aluminium signs a deal with odisha govt.
- 2007 1million tonne alumina at lanjigarh plant was to get bauxite from niyamgiri. Protest started.
+
2010 Rahul gave his voice to the protest.
- 2013 plant dead
- Jan 2014 govt. rejected bauxite mining in niyamgiri.

2. Tata, POSCO, Jindal plants stalled and many plants stopped commissioning.
South Korean giant POSCO steel planned $12billion investment in Orissa in 2005+
the process was running at slow pace and protests started immediately. In 2011 Rahul supported the protests and delayed the project at cost of angry party workers who were frustrated for not opening his mouth on slow pace. +
After facing severe protests POSCO pulled out of odisha in 2017 after committing to start it's operation in December 2014.

Who funded these protests?
NGO AID funded PPSS(POSCO pratirodh sangram samiti) & drafted plan for protest.
NGO INSAAF was used for transferring+
funds to PPSS to protest voilating FCRA act.

UK NGO survival international funded 1.2million pounds to protest solely against VAL.(Here is suprise for u..it also funded turicorin protests). There were 15 NGOs involved in VAL protests (only 9 of them FCRA registered).
+
See demographical changes in Odisha when these protests were happening in every mineral rich region
- Christian population increased 118.41% as compared to 17.76% of Hindus in boudh district
-Christian population grew 70.06% as compared to 12.41% of Hindus in sonepur district
-Christians grew 61.8% as compared to 11.28% of Hindus in ganjam district
-Christians grew 64.56% as compared to 13.63% of Hindus in mayurbhanj district
-Christians grew 61.2% as compared to 9.96% of Hindus in kalahandi district.
-Christians grew 59.35% as compared to 21.12% of Hindus in malkangiri district
-Christians grew 53.78% as compared to 1.36% of Hindus in raygada district
Overall growth of christians in Orissa 29.39% as compared to 13.17% of Hindus according to 2011 census.
Now wat happened in TN?
1. Kudanakulum project success must be credited to MMS after getting IB report of various NGOs (foreign funded and Indian) involved in stalling it, he banned these NGOs, one of them was "tuticorin diocese association". Remember this name.
Rahul was actively supporting this protests which frustrated MMS & finally against the wishes of NAC & Rahul he banned it and the plant later got commissioned.
2. Sterlite protests was launched by bishop yvon Ambrose(of the same tuticorin diocese association) in 2013.
With active involvement of UK NGO survival international and Norway.
Now let's see demographical spread of christians in TN districts. The highest population of christians is in three districts
*Tuticorin - 16.68%
* Tirunelveli - 11.12%
Above are the two districts are where sterlite and kudanakulum protests took place. Third district
* Kanyakumari- 46.85%

After 2004 these three districts became hravesting field for tuticorin diocese association. And most coastal areas are now neo-converted.
