Ahead of Workers Day on Wednesday this week, I would love to share about the amazing Team of people working to ensure health security in #Nigeria

Nearly every week, we have colleagues deployed as NCDC Rapid Response Team members, away from their families and 'comfort zones', working in states to support outbreak response, with no extra benefits but the personal fulfillment each person feels

If you visit our HQ in Jabi or our laboratory, at 8am and after 5pm on every day of the week, you will always find a group of people working! As viruses don't stop working, we too cannot stop. We have to #keeppushing

It helps greatly that our workforce is made up of young people and several "millenials" ...young people filled with so much energy and new ideas. For us at @NCDCgov, every team member- staff, corp member or intern- is an important part of the #NCDcTeam.

Across states, state epidemiologists, disease surveillance and notification officers and other members of their Teams have shown an incredible level of growth and responsibility. Many of them now serve as Incident Managers in their states during outbreaks

Our workforce also includes partners- several of whom are embedded to work with the Team at @NCDCgov. Especially grateful to colleagues from @HQNigerianArmy, @WHONigeria, @PHE_UK, @CDCgov, @ResolveTSL who have staff that work from and with NCDC

It is important for us as leaders to remember that we can only lead through others. We are only as strong as our teams, even when we are away. This is the goal at @NCDCgov. We #keeppushing HAPPY MAY DAY in advance!
