Imma say a weird thing for a Dem, progressive, and anti-Trumper to my last hair - Yes, the FBI did "spy on Trump's campaign." And I think we should grab this, flip the frame, and score.

FBI "spies" on America's enemies.

Trump's campaign HIRED America's enemies.

It is a terse sloganable formulation that will campaign well. And we should welcome this investigation, like we would welcome being sued for libel when we have beaucoup receipts.
It's possible that Dem leadership outcry against "investigate the investigators" is a reverse-psychology strategy. If so, yay. Seems to be working. It's a way to get Trump's executive branch to call public witnesses they'd otherwise fight.
However, I also suspect that (aside from Trump himself, who knows only bullying and bluster) GOP strategists know the risks in putting those who investigated Trump's campaign before the American public in mid-campaign. So I infer they don't really plan to do it. Just yell it.
Therefore, if I were Nadler or Cummings or Pelosi or Schiff, I'd be doing exactly what they're doing now in response: "please don't throw me in the briar patch!" Trump's shown himself extremely vulnerable to child-level reverse psychology.

I'd time it, though.
We want maximum exposure for Trump opponents during the primary debate season, prob not right at the start. So fall 2019 would be optimal.

We also have a cool thing happening in fall 2019 - Roger Stone's November trial (which will expose a massive amount of evidence.)
So I'd want to fight and kick and scream to keep Trump het up about "they spied on me," and then suddenly appear to capitulate to that investigation in late October 2019, just in time to get rolling in tandem with the Stone trial.

And demand every hearing be public.
Yes, the FBI "spied" on members of your campaign, 🍊💩🤡.

Spying is what the FBI does to protect against America's enemies.

And your campaign went out and hired a top selection of America's enemies. KNOWN enemies.

I'd love to focus Dem debate on that. Wouldn't you?
Stone's trial is a crucial nexus, because Stone is the main connection between

1) what Russian agents did in the hacking plot.

2) what Trump's campaign did in the hacking plot.

Mueller's evidence and conclusions on that are redacted under HOM (harm to ongoing matter).
Until November. When it will no longer apply.

So I'd suddenly stop opposing the counter-investigation in mid-October, and watch corrupt GOPs tumble headlong into the pit full of spikes they thought they were preparing for supporters of democracy.
