Understand that the Democrat Party and all its satellite groups are totalitarian to the core. They believe in the nonstop politicization of everything, from the food you eat to your bathroom toiletries. They try to force their ideas on you, and will ENFORCE them if given power.
Totalitarianism always slides into authoritarianism. It begins with the notion that EVERYTHING is political, that no corner of life should be free of political messaging, that every single action has political significance. "Never let a crisis go to waste" is a totalitarian idea.
Once you believe every aspect of life is political, you must conclude that every aspect of life must be subject to CONTROL. Politics is all about reaching (or more commonly manufacturing) some sort of "consensus" and then ENFORCING it upon those who disagree.
Thus, today's assertion that a chicken sandwich has political significance becomes tomorrow's demand to ban the chicken sandwich. No one can be allowed to disagree and simply enjoy the food.
Vicious left-wing attacks on the very notion of offering "thoughts and prayers" to the victim of a crime are also a deeply totalitarian tactic. It's an explicit demand to replace religious faith and simple human compassion with political messaging.
If you support the Left or its Democrat Party in any way, you are endorsing a world where everything is politicized, all the time. There will be no room for individual judgment, no escape from politics. You won't be allowed to say "I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree."
When something is politicized, the notion of settling the issue by force is inevitably introduced. The force will be sanctified by an illusion of democracy, some kind of "vote" or maybe even just a poll, but it will still be force. Dissent will be forbidden, resistance punished.
The people pushing totalitarian hyper-politicization desperately desire that outcome. The gun control movement exemplifies that hunger for power and political conflict. No escape, no dissent, no individual sovereign rights, just collectivist demands and resolution by force.
It's no coincidence that gun control zealots slip so easily into talk of killing Americans who resist their demands or imprisoning them on a titanic scale. That's a feature, not a bug. Fantasies about destroying your hated enemies are a key element of totalitarianism's allure.
As the Russians discovered to their sorrow, gulags were not an aberration of communist ideals or even a sadly necessary price that had to be paid. They were the POINT. There are people who want the gulag to be everywhere, even at funeral services for murder victims. /end
