Responding to the news of postal voting irregularities for British citizens living outside the UK wanting to vote in the European Elections, Jane Golding, Co-Chair of British in Europe said: 1/6
'Only around 40% of British people living abroad can still vote in the UK and hundreds if not thousands of them will have been effectively disenfranchised in this vote, and previous national votes, by a combination of administration procedures that are not fit for purpose... 2/
...and the lack of resource to overcome them. Add into that no central body looking after our disapora and we have the perfect storm. 3/

The remainer media have gone into overdrive over tales of EU citizens being denied their rightful vote. But, just like bogus tales of Brexit Party leaflets being posted in the same envelope as postal votes, the tales of #DeniedMyVote don't stack up. Thread
Firstly EU citizens ARE entitled to vote in our local elections. They CAN vote in the EU elections BUT, to prevent them voting both in the UK and their home country, they must complete a special form to say they are voting here and not at home.
This is not a well known process; I've worked in elections for over a decade and hadn't heard of the form until 2 months ago. How many people supposedly "#DeniedMyVote" didn't not complete the form and just assumed they could vote like in the local elections?

Interesting read. I voted remain and would be happy to try and reform from within. However, I think there are genuine concerns about remaining and in light of the EU starting to fall in with the #USA on #Venezuela I think the concerns are justified.

Belgian commissioner Marianne Thyssen plans for what she calls ‘social union’ — i.e. harmonisation of welfare systems. Jean-Claude Juncker wants a European army, which the Commission describes as ‘a strategic necessity’. Do you want UK troops in #Venezuela as part of an EU army?

There are two things wrong with this Liam Fox piece in the Telegraph on objections to the UK's WTO schedules, on which Parliament should (but probably won't on previous evidence) hold him to account - telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/…
If "we always knew" agricultural quotas would be different, why was Parliament not told? In fact in July Parliament was told the opposite, that this was an EU problem not a UK problem.
This penultimate paragraph isn't right for a different reason. In the event of no-deal, the EU and UK would trade agricultural produce under quotas which aren't anywhere near large enough to cope with this trade. We have heard nothing about how this would be handled.
