It turns out animal agriculture is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, ocean deadzones, rainforest deforestation, species extinction and climate change – more so than all of the transport systems combined including planes, trains, trucks, and cars.

Many, even including leading environmental campaigners, are surprised animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate change and question what vested interests are keeping this so well hidden when it’s something we all need to know about.

The banners were also inspired by Joseph Poore who says ‘With moving towards greener transportation we’re reducing emissions, but with moving away from animal agriculture we’re reducing emissions AND freeing up land which can store carbon’.

The campaigners initially made 25 banners with 25 winning cities chosen to display them.

However, they were inundated with requests for more banners with more cities coming forward so they eventually doubled it with now 50 UK cities taking part, and more voicing their interest.

The launch date was July 27th, with many cities displaying their banners earlier with huge success. The group says: “People are taking photos of them, sharing and learning about going vegan to beat climate change.”
