David is right is saying that the absence of a visible border in Ireland is linked to deep rooted questions about identity

It is the existence of the rich regulatory framework and mutual enforcement that has allowed the visible border to melt and with identity conflict
This is a really superb thread from @DavidHenigUK with lucid explanations about how issues of identity conflict were de-escalated by physical removal of border infrastructure, implementing GFA undertakings and by the regulatory and enforcement environment of the EU SM & CU .
