Iu Ting-Kwok: "Do we need to do something more to strengthen the #SingaporeConvention, to make it work better?" Points to Art 5 items 1e and 1f. Tl;dr is that deficient mediator = decision not upheld. So how do we ensure that we use GOOD mediators? Answer = mediator standards.

What are the mediator standards where settlement is cross-border? Do we need international mediator #standards? (IMI answers 'YES'.)

Ana Maria Maia Gonçalves (AMMG) - there is no common code of practice for mediators around the world. Issues w #mediation:
1. Lack of enforcement of settlement agreements (addressed by Singapore Convention)
2. Lack of knowledge about what to expect from #mediator (What to do?)

AMMG: there are many #mediation codes of conduct around the world. Challenges that codes do not cover the same topics, and not coded in the same way.
