What happens when you lock up children for years on end?
Australia shamefully kept many children (with their families) on the island nation of Nauru for up to six years.
These are their stories in pictures.

"Venus, a teenage Iranian refugee who arrived in Nauru at the age of nine, was transferred to Australia at 14 with her family. She was admitted to the Brisbane Children’s Hospital upon arrival, and now lives on a community detention visa with her mother in Brisbane."

In 2014, the Australian Human Rights Commission's (AHRC) conducted a National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention 2014.

In the 2014 National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention, AHRC staff visited facilities to speak to children. They were given paper and textas and asked to draw something about their life. These drawings are the children’s submissions to the inquiry (AHRC)

I'm not suggesting this will definitely happen for at the United States border, more that it could happen, and the effects that this may have.
