Hurricanes do not take straight, smooth tracks but actually wobble around, in some cases quite dramatically (trochoidal oscillation)

If u look at 1-hourly weather model data, then the low pressure center is seen to wobble along.

ECMWF 06z is closest to FL off the Space Coast.
@weathermodels_ Maximum wind gusts along the Florida coast are still expected to be 60-80 mph+ from Hurricane #Dorian

And a slight deviation of the storm course to the west would allow even stronger winds.

6-8" of rain -- and same deal, more if it wobbles west -- or less if it shifts east.
@weathermodels_ The wave footprint corresponding to those major hurricane force winds shows a large area of 70-foot+ well offshore. However, as Dorian moves north, water will be pushed onshore + very large waves = battering beach erosion and surge.
