Earth is going to miss the Paris climate goal at our current greenhouse gas emission levels, says the UN.

Right now the planet is on track to warm by 2.9°-3.4°C by 2100 — almost 150% the Paris maximum limit.
Global greenhouse gas emissions reached record levels in 2017, says the UN. And preliminary findings say they were even higher in 2018.

~80% come from the G20, the world's richest countries.
2015-2019 is on track to be the warmest period ever recorded on Earth:

▪️ July 2019 was the hottest month ever recorded
▪️ Arctic sea ice was below average for all 4 years
▪️ Global sea levels are rising faster than before
The Arctic is already 3°C warmer in winter than it was 20 years ago, says the UN.

Last winter was one of the lowest sea ice extents ever recorded — with an area of ice the size of Texas missing.
