On Observer Radio Dave says AEW is working on signing a live TV deal with Canada "As we speak". The $4.99 a month Fite TV deal will be for all markets that don't have live TV.
Dave says last weekend he had people in the UK advertising community telling him that the AEW TV deal was done and they were going to be airing in the UK 3 times a week: Live on Wednesdays, Friday night in a good slot, and the Sunday slot that's now the premier.
Dave says the problem with the TV is that TNT wants to run 16 minutes of commercials an hour. By UK law, ITV could only do 12. WWE can get away with it because Sky and BT don't have these regulations, ITV does.
It's going to be weird because Dave says content rules early Sunday mornings are stricter in the UK and AEW is aiming for TV-14, so some things might be edited out. At the same time, they have to add an extra 8 minutes of content an episode to fill the commercial gap in the UK.
Dave says this isn't finalized, but the idea is the Fite version of AEW will have no commercials. Dave doesn't know what the extra content will be and doesn't imagine it'll be that special though. Maybe video packages.
Dave says the word he gets from sources both in TSN and AEW is that a Canadian TV deal between the two is close, but they're still negotiating.
Dave didn't think Riddle/Dain was good at all. Was pretty down on it.
Dave says 205 Live airing on Friday nights after Smackdown is a temporary thing. There are still a lot of ideas floating around about what to do with it, including just ending it, and so this is just a stopgap measure until they make up their minds.
