Canada’s foreign policy with China at the moment solely focuses on trade. It is run through the PM’s office. the aim to increase Canadian prosperity rather than promote Canadian values

Olsi Jazexhi approached the Chinese embassy in Albania, demanding to see the camps to see whether rumour of camps were true.
20 journalists from around the world were invited to go China (all expenses paid). Authorities were trying to convince journalists and the world that China loves the Uyghurs.
it was propaganda exercice. China tried to portray the Uyghurs as terrorists who constitute as security risk. As a historian specialized in propaganda and nationalism, Olsi saw through the lies.
Chinese authorities demonizes Uyghur activists and people. They pretend that Islam has no place in China. They have constructed an imperialist narrative.
China is engaged in a so-called civilization mission. They portray themselves as “superior” civilization bringing knowledge and progress to “uncivilized” populations.
Olsi took pictures and videos of the concentration camps. Detainees are being brainwashed, locked in camps for actions that should not be considered as crimes.They are prohibited to speak Uyghur, the think Uyghur and to be Uyghur
Chinese authorities pretend this is good for the Uyghur because it is giving them free education. The Uyghur are not treated as equals. Olsi warned Chinese authorities are only radicalizing Uyghurs through their violent tactics.

China has an interest in #xiangjian because it is part of their Silk Road power house and network project. Xiangjian is seen as their way to become a world superpower. They are seeking the total extermination of the #Uyghurs , turn them into Han Chinese
If the world doesn’t act, China will succeed. We must act now.
