That's it. I've had enough. Turkey, you are our ally and you deserve our backing and support. YPG, go on, embrace Assad...you are now our enemy.
I've felt affinity for the SDF. As a U.S. citizen, I'm appreciative of their efforts and partnership in the fight against ISIS.

I've been torn, hating the thought of loss of life from a clash between Turkey, our ally, and the SDF, our partner. But our YPG partner is not acting in good faith.
2/13
The YPG partnership was not a blank check. You've now been warned for 3 years that Turkey (and still a U.S. designated terrorist org) considers you a terrorist threat if you don't decouple from the PKK. You were told repeatedly to w/draw to East-bank Euphrates. You refused.
3/13
You have not been above your own ethnic cleansing of Arabs in Tel Abyad. You have done nothing in the fight against Assad's genocide nor offered to help alleviate the refugee flow from him. And now, you openly begin to collaborate w/the world's motley crew of genocidalists.
4/13
Worse still, you r now openly engaging in verifiable lies & propaganda to stir up Western sentiment against our NATO ally. This is the same active disinformation that our adversary Russia engages in. It shows your true colors. Lastly, you threaten release if ISIS detainees.
5/13
You know who else releases Salafi Jihadists to poison the well? Assad. Great company you keep.
6/13
Turkey, you have taken in 3 million+ refugees, tried to stall and use negotiation to stop Assad & Russia's advance in Syria (albeit ineffectively). You even put Turkish troops on the ground to protect Idlib's citizens. This is more than most have done.
7/13
You have even shot down a Russian jet bombing civilians, waiting for NATO to have your back as Russia moved in to bomb every manner of civilian life. But NATO shamefully let you down.
8/13
Have some of your SNA forces committed war crimes in this newest Op.? Yes. But the intent is good to resettle refugees. The SNA has also shown a willingness to check their abuses.
9/13
But at the end of the day, if the U.S. reserves the right to drone-strike anyone it considers a terrorist, how can we deny Turkey's right to deal w/ US-labelled terrorists too? Especially after waiting years for the U.S. to solve this YPG-PKK problem.
10/13
One last point. The 'secular' lens of evaluating the worthiness of civilians who deserve protection is sickening and it must stop. Over the last days, I've seen a sudden wave of hearts bleeding for 'the Kurds' when Assad has slaughtered 500,000+ civilians for 8 yrs now.
11/13
Where have these hearts been? Most grotesque of all is the retcon crew now alarmed over current events who, in years past, shrugged their shoulders at Assad's slaughter, muttering 'but there might be an al Qaeda type in the building just pancaked, so we can't do a NFZ'.
12/13
And so, Turkey, you are an ally of the U.S. you embrace democracy overall (even if it's a little rocky in recent years), you embrace minorities and refugees. You deserve our support. I urge all my fellow citizens to express the same. The YPG is not our friend. End.
13/13.
