I do think health care is a human right. But I also wonder if those pushing sweeping changes have ever actually experienced nationalized health care. This is not a knock on nationalized healthcare but rather advocating for going about this with our eyes wide open.
I think it would be very beneficial for those who are working on this to travel abroad - as a nobody - and experience nationalized healthcare in its various forms. Actually, I think it's critical that they do this. They need to learn what works well, and what works terribly.
To be clear: I'm not against universal access to healthcare. I'm simply advocating that those who are working on it actually go and experience it firsthand so they can understand how certain policies translate into user experience. Why not learn from those already doing it?
