Top Ten Reasons Adults without Autism Deserve AMA (Applied Misbehavior Analysis)

1. ABA is a marketing campaign built around controlling behaviors. It stifles freedom of thoughts and removes autonomy, innovation, self-determination, and creativity.
2. AMA seeks to validate each person's individual strengths, accommodate their disabilities, and provide for them a set of circumstances wherein they can thrive to meet their full potential.
3. ABA reinforces behaviors undertaken in the interest of "social consequence." Those social norms go unquestioned and maintain the status quo. The status quo maintains dominant power structures and keeps minority populations marginalized.
4. AMA maintains that "socially appropriate" behaviors need to be examined to determine if "appropriate" really means "normative." Normality stagnates and impedes progress. If "socially appropriate" behaviors cause harm, they should be rebelled against.
5. #AMA believes that social reciprocity can mean more than a conscripted rules that are limited to certain types of communication (spoken language, eye contact, prom, heteronormativity, body language, small talk). There are many ways to express socioemotional connectedness.
6. #AMA is a strength-based approach that seeks to leverage innate talents and special interests or passions to help foster a life-long approach to learning that is suited to the individual and fosters specialization over ambiguous multi-tasking.
7. #AMA reinforces that communication choice is individual, and #AMAStandsWithNonSpeakers. #AMA maintains that #AAC is a human right and that #sensorimotor differences, #apraxia, #dyslexia, and #SensoryProcessingDisorder are real.
8. #AMA teaches that meaningful communication should be centered around open, honest, direct interaction. #AMA understands that communication couched in layers of innuendo disadvantages everyone except the dominant culture/majority, and values #Diversity over orthodoxy.
9. #AMA teaches intrinsic motivation over external reward-seeking behaviors. Courage, honor, curiosity, honesty, integrity, and charity are reinforced and rewarded over conformity, symmetrical facial features, IQ/ability bell curves, wealth, and popularity.
10. #AMA, above all, believes that every person, from the day they are born until their last day, is fully-human and deserving of authentic respect, bodily autonomy, love, appreciation, safety, and actually-appropriate and free education.
#Obediance and #compliance are behavioral indicators of a broken spirit and trauma. #Collaboration, #cooperation, #freedom, and #acceptance of self and others can only be achieved by #Misbehaving.

Be unapologetically #noncompliant; save the world from the Tyranny of Sameness.
