Both Labour and Conservative are committing to completing a fundamental negotiation with our main trading partner next year. Yet in this election campaign so far dominated by triviality we have little idea of what they'll negotiate.
Spend lots of money and negotiate some trade stuff is not an economic policy. Or possibly for the Labour Party not even negotiate some trade stuff.

But I suppose is simpler to talk about than actually engaging in some detail.
It has become common understanding that delivering Brexit is more important than the future of the UK, the car industry, the economy. The jihadi Brexit. We'll return one day to wanting close economic relations with the EU, but at what cost in the meantime? ft.com/content/96ddbc…
PS If you're thinking, he's grouchy because none of the parties have given any detail that can be analysed in detail, then yes, of course. Not even the business groups as yet.

At least the election gurus are getting their moment, though a few of them seem grouchy as well...
