You know there is something fishy when #Iran apologists/lobbyists team up with former Obama officials to push a Politico “scoop” (read hit piece) targeting Brian Hook, the U.S. State Dept.’s front man on Tehran, for firing @saharnow of @NIACouncil from the State Dept.
This from March 2018:
@NIACouncil, the known & disgraced DC-based #Iran lobby group, was furious over Nowrouzzadeh’s expulsion from the State Dept.
My take:
Because they lost their insider.
“NIAC’s most accomplished alum is Sahar Nowrouzzadeh, who is now National Security Council director for Iran in the Obama admin & the top U.S. official for Iran policy, bringing together various departments working on US strategy toward [Iran].”

“… Nowrouzzadeh has maintained a low profile, but her work at NIAC is publicly available. She drafted one of the organization’s annual reports for 2002-2003 (PDF).”
niacouncil.org/docs/annual_re…
“The Obama admin insists Nowrouzzadeh was only ever an intern with NIAC & Nowrouzzadeh does not seem eager to play up her affiliation with the group. According to her LinkedIn profile, she has worked at the State & Defense departments. The profile doesn’t mention NIAC at all.”
Nowrouzzadeh co-authored a Foreign Affairs article with Payam Mohseni defending the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, using the piece to push Tehran’s talking points.
Mohseni is known to parrot such talking points.

NIAC President @jabdi, Senior Research Analyst @SinaToossi and former NIAC member @NegarMortazavi are pushing the narrative in support of Nowrouzzadeh & against Brian Hook.
Reminder:
Mortazavi is quite fond of @JZarif.
My conclusion:
NIAC remains furious about losing their insider in Trump’s State Dept.
Now, they seek to take advantage of the current atmosphere in the U.S. to target Brian Hook who is known for his firm policy against the Iranian regime.
