Me : Empty promises.
X : Reality?
Me : Cuts to social housing, privatisation of the NHS, an eventual ending of the legal right to paid holiday (and erosion of other workers' rights) ... all dressed up as "freedom of choice".
Me : A benefit to society. The problem is, we don't invest in underlying services required and it's an "easy" excuse to hide the impacts of austerity. Daft thing is that some believe if we cut immigration then access to services will improve. Whoops.
Me : You mean people won't vote, full stop. That's the purpose, to disenfranchise those most vulnerable to exploitation until they think there is no point in voting at which point they become easier targets to exploit.
Me : Because I want you to do so. You have a responsibility to create a better future. If you can't then you should apologise. If that gets you angry, then take that wasteful energy, control it and get involved.
Me : Nope. No more than I believe in letting yourself get sucked into outrage. If you do, then you become easy to control. Instead focus on control of the political machinery. That's what you need to change.
Me : You vote. It's the single most important thing to do. With enough willingness the many can change the entire system.
