Right now, I think there are three categories of Albertans. 1) Those who did not vote UCP, would never vote UCP, and tried to warn everyone what would happen under a UCP government. They are rolling their eyes as they read this article.... 1/9
2) There are those who voted UCP because they believed in Kenney and his glowing promises to rout the evils of socialism and bring back big booming oil prices and 6 figure jobs right out of grade 11. But they are disappointed. 2/9
Kenney and his crew are behaving like decades of PC politicians before them. Rick Bell would claim to be one of the "I didn't know! How can this be?" crowd. They are grumbling, but they know there is nothing they can do to curb or tame the UCP now... 3/9
Some are hoping it's just post-election giddiness and things will settle down. Many still want to believe. Things will have to get far worse before most will admit this party was a mistake. 4/9
3) Finally, there are Albertans who are all "YEE-HAW" about everything the UCP has done so far. They may even feel Kenney has been moving too slowly. They are chomping at the bit for abortion, euthanasia, gender-affirming surgery, contraceptives, and gayness to be outlawed. 5/9
They want schools to go back to basics, after all, kids can learn everything they need to know from the Bible, right? It's "God's roadmap for life", isn't that right? Time to run all the socialists and immigrants out of Alberta! Secede from Canada! Have a Kudatah! 6/9
And the thing is, I don't think Jason Kenney cares at all what the first two groups think. Keeping the third group under some sort of control could be a headache, but mostly they will be happy if they can see the people they don't like suffering. 7/9
It feels like Kenney has been grooming that third group. Keeping them angry, building their hate for all the things he himself hates. They will serve him well to suppress the other two groups, with threats, with loud voices, with the potential for violence. 8/9
Groups 1 & 2 can become increasingly unhappy and vocal. It won't matter. Kenney is on a mission. And once his $30 Million "Ministry of Truth" is up and running, it will become more difficult for dissenting voices to be heard. 9/9
