And to be clear, this isn't primarily about Obama for me, though he was the catalyst for the tag.

I've argued for a long time that the political-media establishment NEVER asks if the GOP is too far right.

Let's break it down. We've had weeks of #ImpeachmentHearings to "inquire" about what Trump FREELY admitted on October 3.
THE #IMPEACHMENT CHARADE

And these hearings came after months of Dem leaders refusing to #ImpeachTrump for:

Torturing migrant kids.

Violating the #EmolumentsClause.

Assaulting the First Amendment.

Obstructing justice with #Mueller.

Inciting #WhiteSupremacist terrorism.
THE #IMPEACHMENT CHARADE

Apparently #Pelosi's brilliant "long game" was to give Trump a pass on ALL his numerous egregious abuses of power, and to wait for a #whistleblower to magically appear.

And the ultimate offense was not kidnapping brown children, but coming for #Biden.

THREAD: STRATEGIC ERROR

On Sep. 25, if Democrats had quickly drafted articles of #impeachment and held a vote, Trump would have been impeached, a majority would have supported it, and we may have gotten a few GOP defections.

Instead, we've given Repubs time to close ranks...
I know I'm swimming against the tide calling for an #impeachment vote NOW, but I truly believe the #ImpeachmentHearings have slowed the momentum enough for the GOP to create a united defense of Trump.

And I said it at the time:

There is a binary outcome here, despite the excited coverage of the #ImpeachmentHearings: Either Trump is impeached in the House or he isn't. We don't need an iota more evidence to #ImpeachNOW.

He should have been impeached in January. Every extra day is just stalling.

It's like this wild, breathless realization that Trump and the crooks around him are actually bad.

These Republicans have been the same for decades. Bush lied and caused the deaths of countless people. With no consequences.

WAKE UP.
I have to say, it's people like @BreeNewsome who give me hope at least SOME people see what a farce this all is.
@BreeNewsome So reps like @RepMaxineWaters and @RepAlGreen can say #impeach the crooks for years and be treated with disdain by Dem leaders and media elites.

But a white guy testifies and it's "OMG Trump and his cronies are really crooks!"

2/ You can find the mentioned video if you look for it, but I wouldn't recommend it, since it's disturbing. I will say that the variety of media, politicians and entertainers depicted is larger than the article indicates.

Let’s remember, though party polarization was not as strong in 1973-1974, it took a long time before Republicans broke ranks with President Richard Nixon—and they eventually did./2

Here we go #nytimes is reporting #RodRosenstein felt used by the White House to fire #JamesComey. SMH. Only now this is being leaked to #Fakenews because Rosenstein had his arse handed to him by #JimJordan. If the story is true why didn't or won't Rosenstein resign?
There are no shackles keeping him to his desk. All Rosenstein has to do is quit. It won't stop the witch hunt but would start restoring faith in the system.
I call BS on the #NYT story and once again the #FakeNewsMedia is falling for yet another lie. Rosenstein didn't look so shaken during the hearings. Further proof the man is a fake.

Some thoughts on the debate between Coates and Cornel West, as someone who had the privilege to study with the latter.
I think a lot of folks misunderstand Dr. West’s position because they don’t put themselves in his way of seeing the world. Because for years Dr. West has been very consistent with his critiques of #Obama, #neoliberalism, and #internationalism
West sees the world through an #internationalist matrix of power. That means that, for him, understanding #WhiteSupremacy, for example, isn’t just about understanding individual #racist encounters in the US but understanding *policies* that disenfranchise non-white folk.
