Thread: (1) Racial gaps in academic discipline, orderly conduct, and "managing feelings" remain after controlling for parental socioeconomic status, replicating the general pattern of findings indicating that SES is a bad explanation for group differences.

(2) For many variables, including commitment to school, family involvement, and school safety, differences either favor minority's or are negligible among those of low SES.
(3) Despite this, poor white kids outscore poor and upper class black kids on IQ tests and the SAT, suggesting that these gaps cannot be explained by parental SES, or involvement with school, or personal drive towards education, etc.
