The CCP/China has been implicated in over 80% of all DOJ economic espionage charges since 2012!!

Part of it goes back to Wilbur Ross and the US Trade Dept's #China Section 301 investigation.

It also stems from the 2018 White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy report about “How China’s Economic Aggression Threatens the Technologies and Intellectual Property of the United States and the World,” which can be found here.

The DOJ initiative will also work to protect our critical infrastructure against foreign investment, supply chain threats, and unregistered foreign influencers.

Here's what AG Barr set for their goals:

- Identify and work on important trade secret theft cases

- Create an enforcement strategy against spies & thieves in areas such as research, universities, and defense

- Educate colleges & universities about CCP influence on campus 👏

- Use FARA against unregistered foreign agents that are helping China's political agenda

- Equip US Attys with more intel & info to raise awareness about CCP activities

- Find better ways to address supply chain threats, especially in telecommunications and #5G

- Identify FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) cases that involve Chinese companies that compete w/ US companies

- Try to improve Chinese responses to requests under MLAA

- Figure out if we need more legislative and administrative authorities to protect US assets
