I would never try to predict what is likely to happen in #richmond tomorrow, but let me just provide some context of why I am hopeful violence will be averted and why that is mixed news. 1/
The #richmondrally has the benefit of two key features that are always desirable in a high risk event: 1)notice, meaning resources can be deployed, plans made, public notified, etc. and 2/
2)lessons learned, meaning what happened in Charlottesville is now known to have been the result of poor planning, so everyone has adopted changes. The motto "Go big or stay home" describes the state of emergency to the FAA ban of small aircraft/drones to National Guard. 3/

Jewish leaders have been at the forefront of the vaccination movement, well aware that there is a history of isolating the community based on racist fears of "unhealthiness." There is no orthodox objection to vaccination. This isn't a religious issue. 1/

My opinions are clear. These advocates represent a public safety threat to our communities and should be treated as such: fines, isolation, etc. When I recently testified on this, I was surrounded by hundreds of angry moms. Look at them glaring at me! 3/

We’ll have a lot going on here about those disasters and the ones to come. But it’s important to remember that decisions are made in real time, based on limited — and all bad — choices. Success isn’t measured in good news, but often on just limiting the bad. 2/
As for Haiti, those choices — US Army in first, child care services second —weren’t because we are cruel (I’m a mother too) but because only a single runway survived the earthquake. My previous take. 3/

Following the US decision to impose maximum pressure by ending oil sanctions exceptions, #Iran launched multiple lines of effort to push back on US pressure to gain sanctions relief by trying to influence American and European politics without triggering a war.
The one we focus on the most right now is non-attributable violent attacks like limpet mines in the Gulf, the cruise missile attack on Saudi and the more recent activity in Iraq that prompted the kinetic response from @realDonaldTrump to restore deterrence, which he largely has.

Iran apologises for downing a Ukraine Airlines #PS752 Boeing.

Iran anti-air defence battery (Tor M-1) operator rushed to fire the missile, thinking it was a #US jet retaliating to the Iranian bombing of Ayn al-Assad base in #Iraq.

In 1988, the U.S.S. Vincennes missile cruiser downed an Iran Air Airbus A300 over the Persian Gulf, killing 290 passengers and crew. The U.S. military said it mistook the airliner for an Iranian fighter jet, an account disputed by Iran. #US refused to apologise promptly.
82 Iranians & 63 Canadians were on board the Ukraine International Airlines. Also 11 victims - including 9 crew members - from Ukraine, 4 Afghans, 4 Britons and 3 Germans.
147 of the victims were Iranian, which suggests many of the foreign nationals held dual nationality.

Holy cow! Senior militia leaders killed in American strikes in Iraq, and could include Iran’s Qassem Soleimani or one of his top aides from Iraq. Beyond insane.
So far confirmed — the Pentagon is saying two senior operatives “linked to Iran” were targeted.

Iraqi TV claims that Qassem Sulaimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were killed.

If true, this is no doubt the most significant/consequential killing probably in a decade.
Whoa! Iraq’s Hashd al-Shaabi (iranian-backed popular mobilization forces) is reportedly confirming that its deputy and Qassem Sulaimani have been indeed killed in American strikes.
