1/ Seems to be confusion about what happens after January 31 between the UK and EU. But the UK press is focusing on other issues.

So here's a thread about the transition period, partly in the style of the UK press to keep your attention.

2/ Many people saying that they "lose EU rights" after January 31. But if the withdrawal agreement is ratified, EU law continues to apply between the EU and UK for the rest of 2020 - including free movement, EHIC etc

Here's a LONDON LANDMARK needing REPAIRS ⬇️
3/ The transition period can be extended for one or two years, but the UK government opposes that so it's probably unlikely. The deadline to decide on extension is 30 June, unless the withdrawal agreement is amended.

New AG opinion in cases of @privacyint and others concludes that UK, French and Belgian laws on data retention of communications are at least partly in breach of EU law
If the CJEU judges agree with the Advocate General's opinion that the UK is in breach of EU data protection law, it is likely to impact upon whether the Commission can/will adopt a post Brexit adequacy decision for the UK.

1. Am I the only one infuriated with the view that if @theresa_may and @jeremycorbyn agree a #brexit #customsunion then all is fine. This ignores the fact that it is leaving the #singlemarket that is the killer for business making, importing or exporting products. Why? A thread..
2/ Much of the commercial debate around #Brexit has focused on whether we stay in the #CustomsUnion or not. That is because this is the current battle between #Conservatives and #Labour. If Labour prevailed, and the UK remains in a Customs Union, then the tariff issue dies
3/ However, the much bigger problem relates to the #SingleMarket. Neither main party wants to stay in the Single Market because you can’t have free movement of goods, services and capital without accepting the same for people. But abandoning the single market means...
