1)The following thread is dedicated to recent reports claiming to have gathered new information on #ISIS' current leader:
2)Recent reports identify #ISIS’ leader under newly revealed name “Amir Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Mawli al-Salbi.” Based on similar information and backstory, seems to be same man as “Abdullah Qardash,” whose name first arose in a phony ’Amaq report from August 2019.
3)Back in Aug, a storm of articles sourcing Turkish and Iraqi media reported this Qardash as the new leader, which was troubling considering the name was based off an 'Amaq message SITE concluded to be fake.
4)Based on these recent reports, there seems to be significant confusion within whichever intelligence agencies are pushing this information as to whether Salbi and Qardash are the same person. Iraqi intel now suggests the man named Qardash has been dead since 2017.
5)Another major question is the origin of Salbi (AKA Qardash/Hajj Abdullah), who is reported to be an Iraqi Turkman from Tal Afar and thus not of the Qurayshi tribe (a key requirement for being the Caliph of Muslims).
6)Additionally, the recent articles on the subject all pull from a Guardian piece that sites two unidentified intelligence agencies, with no indication of which country/region to attribute to these sources (i.e. Western, Middle Eastern, etc.).
7)Not to say there is no validity to these reports. H/e, since the mention of this "Qardash" character, the entire narrative has been rife with conflicting and/or fabricated info. Only logical to wonder where reports are coming from & and why they emerged before death of Baghdadi
8) If in fact ISIS is lying, and this Turkman named Salbi is the leader of the group, such an exposure could lead to serious consequences or fitna (sedition) within the group’s ranks, from leadership to fighters on the ground.
