1. First & foremost be based on the principles of addressing the social determinants of health - poverty, education, housing etc. This means tackling wealth & health inequality
2. Focus on Public health, disease prevention & health promotion
4. Invest properly in the social care system, which should be free at the point of use, thus reducing poverty rates in old age, & younger generation (who can inherit property)
6. Public accountability and oversight of the system. External peer review of clinical care.
8. Invest in science, research & education. Export ideas, technology & new medicines, globally
Unfortunately, it’s clear we’ll never see a system like this under the Tories, because it’s the antithesis of their ideology of reducing the role of the state and promoting marketisation & privatisation
