Nader claimed in 2000 that he would build the Green Party. He did nothing. The folks who blame Hillary Clinton for Obama's foreign policy forget he had a VP and are paternalizing the first black president. You can't have it all ways.
Addendum: That guy presiding over the #ImpeachmentTrial? He is there because of the 2000 election. When asked if he regretted the shift in the SCOTUS due to Bush, Nader said no. When people only have fealty to themselves, maybe don't cede the country to them.

Nearly 20% of hate crimes are perpetrated against #LGBTQ people like Ja'Quarius Taylor, according to a news story I reported 6wks ago when the FBI released their annual report.
Here is the story.
#LGBTQ people are disproportionately victims of hate crimes. And now Ja'Quarius Taylor is dead at 17. What a loss to all who loved them.

I was excited by the NYT endorsement. I read it aloud to The Wife & texted a family, friends, colleagues. I re-watched all the interviews, watching the faces of the women & POC. I wrote my column about what it meant to address the other--this was a sea-change. It felt tectonic.
A close friend--a black woman I talk to every week--replied "What a triumph for two women to be endorsed by the NYT.When you wrote, I had not read it, but since, I have. Just goes to show that having female/ LGBT/ POC representation on boards and committees goes such a LONG way."
All day, every time I came on here, Bernie and Biden camps were flaming about the endorsement. It was so disheartening to see Dem "strategists," some of whom I really respect, dismissing the truly hard work of these women and POC breaking ground. I wanted folks to acknowledge it.

This group is blatantly alt right & Holocaust denying. Fried was forced into a role she didn't want because others had already quit for similar reasons. But a faculty advisor is required for campus groups. Now Fried (also a Bangor columnist)is accused of setting the group up.

There is in fact a line between free speech and hate speech. That a university would appear to support the latter should be concerning. In the era of Trump, with hate crimes up exponentially, particularly anti-Semitism and LGBTQ crimes, why embrace that rhetoric?
