🚨🚨✈️Actionable Steps to Make Travel Happen in 2020 [Thread] ✈️🚨🚨

#30DaysOfThreads (Travel Edition) #PacksLight
OK. We all agree that January was a horrible fluke in 2020. The year starts NOW. And if travel was one of your goals, we're done talking about it, we're making it happen. Start with these tips:
Mark the long weekends on your calendars. i.e. mark holidays and PTO days you want to take on Mondays and Fridays. Plan trips for then. See prime U.S. dates below 👇🏽
Notify your boss (if you can). If you have a good relationship just mention, "I plan to travel as much as possible this year, just so you know. I would love if the company worked with me, and also kept me in mind for any opportunities to travel."

You never know!
Required reading: The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss, if you have a job that could potentially be done remotely this will help you try to transition to working location independent = traveling. The book is hit or miss, but pick out the gems. amzn.to/3bgZMyw
If you're in college ~try~ to organize your summer/fall schedule to have as many classes Tues-Thurs as possible. They will be LONG days but you'll have so many free weekends. Just be disciplined.

My Spring Breaks were always 10 days long, or more 🤷🏽‍♀️
Maybe you don't know exactly where you want to go but you know the region (Middle East, Caribbean, Mediterranean, etc.) Highlight the SHOULDER SEASON for the region on your calendar. This is often Spring or Fall (depends on the hemisphere)
In shoulder season you'll likely have ehh weather but smaller crowds, lower prices, and local tourist industries even more motivated to please and entertain.
Ex. South America: Oct-Nov
Western Europe: Apr-Jun, Sept-Oct
Middle East: May-Sep (crazy hot 🥵)
Start saving! You need money to travel. My favorite apps to use are Mint (budgeting), Acorns (rounds up each dollar and saves you the difference), and Ally (for investing). Get $5 today if you sign up to Acorns with my link acorns.com/invite/3PCLT3 I'm almost at $600!
I LIED. You don't need money to travel. At least, not your money 👀

Did you know there are travel grants and scholarships for ppl 15 to 35? For NON-STUDENTS? People will pay for to send you abroad for leadership summits, international internships, cultural exchanges, etc. 💸🌍
Legit most of my brand is sharing these opportunities. I won one & went to South Korea for free in January.

Finding cheap flights? Read this bit.ly/CheapFlights101. Subscribe to all of the error fare newsletters like Scott's, and look into the flight sites. I use Google Flights, @Skyscanner, and @momondo most often. Try to book 1-3 months in advance.
I love traveling w @Groupon, & if you have a boo/bestie even better bc their prices are based on double occupancy. You might be hesitant, but their travel deals are legit! More details/review: bit.ly/GrouponTellAll

Pics of my Groupon Sri Lanka trip 🇱🇰👇🏽 I paid $500 for 5 days, 4* hotels, private driver, 2 buffet meals a day, and all excursions included. It was heaven on earth.
If your friends aren't as down as mine are and you don't need no man, look into group trips via companies like @intrepid (small groups, local feel), @gadventures (bigger groups, partier feel), and @U30Experiences.
But if you REALLY wanna make travel happen... accept that you might go alone. If you wait for others, you may wait forever. Mentally prepare by going out to eat, seeing a movie, doing a staycation solo.

Read this bit.ly/SisYaFriendsSu…, take a deep breath, and BOOK THAT SH*T.
Still nervous? I find FB groups can be AMAZING communities to find meetups, tips, resources, and even people to meet up with or call in an emergency! They'll also serve as daily travel inspiration. Here's a list to start with: bit.ly/TravelFBGroups

Pics from my FB meetups 👇🏽
Speaking of inspiration, get on Pinterest, create a travel board, and manifest. Obv I have a travel Pinterest account to follow if you want to get started pinterest.com/packslight, but just use it like Google and start pinning your interests. Thoughts become things!!!
Finally... book it.

Aside from money, the biggest hurdle is the mental block. The what-ifs, the anxiety, etc. I've literally shared free money through grants for all ages... Like at some point, it just comes down to if you want it enough to prioritize it.
