I'm stunned by the depth of #coronavirus information being released in #Singapore. On this website you can see every known infection case, where the person lives and works, which hospital they got admitted to, and the network topology of carriers, all laid out on a time-series

This is all based on press releases by their Ministry of Health. Of course the immediate question is about boundaries of privacy, but I don't think it's a one-sided argument in this case – I expect that this density of information actually has utility for public well-being

The crux of the issue becomes about the trade-offs involved, and that's a difficult problem. But certainly a more compelling model of digital exposure than facebook-style surveillance marketing

btw, the website itself is not made by the singapore gov, although the data comes from them. It's apparently made by... the staff of a local programming school!😮 A strong sense of civic responsibility? A personal desire to visualise the threat? Commercial opportunity? Who knows

Just to clarify, the residential information being released is at the level of street names. The last photo says "Bukit Batok Street 31" but that's actually the name of a road, not a home address.
The problem is their acceptance of serialised street names! 31? How many are there

Those of you who support this tracking system— Would you consider deploying it even for *the flu* if it were technically possible?

Loving the split in this last poll. I guess for some it's a matter of principle, and for others it's a matter of magnitude.

I assume very few would want it used even for STDs (religious folks?). But what do I know
