Please Dmitry (and also @pmdfoster as well)
STOP BEING SO SENSIBLE

We have enough evidence now to know that the UK is *not* negotiating towards the best possible economic outcome
I *know* it's hard to think a partner to a trade negotiation is approaching things that way

I *know* it is mad to not give a damn about the economic wellbeing of your people

But that is where we are
That's not to say that, at the margin, economic concerns will not come into it

But were the logistics / ports / freight industries to get the waiver Dmitry suggests, then the farmers seek the same. So do the tech firms. The banks. And you end up with a soft-ish Brexit
So at the moment - while Brexit is still a predominantly ideological project in Downing Street - Government can ride rough shod over every industry interest

Yes, you get the odd negative headline

Yes, the economic figures don't look good - but blame the EU or Corona for that
The Government will keep hammering the line that *diversion* is the point of Brexit for the next few months. That they are ready to do No Deal so the British people can "take back control" if necessary

Every industry will bleat and complain. Louder and louder
But then come autumn the Government will fold on a few key issues, and just as they did in the autumn of last year, industry will go "ooooh, thank *goodness* we got a Deal rather than No Deal" and the Government banks a communication and political win
If I were any confederation of any industry in the UK just now, I would see no alternative than to take the hardest line possible: simply demand the transition period is extended, even *if* that's against the Government policy, and even *if* Number 10 refuses to then speak to you
Wake up and smell the ☕️, UK industries! The Government does not give a sodding damn about you, and until you show more backbone than you did in the first phase, you'll continue to be played by the Government. Sorry.
