How to stop an outbreak (and why China won't have to reimpose restrictions)

Squares represent individuals: grey susceptible; yellow latent; red infected and contagious; black deceased or recovered; and light blue are isolated. 1/2

Colored blocks represented communities: grey unrestricted; blue are past monitoring and confirmed unexposed; yellow no active infections but are still being monitored; and red have active and infectious cases. 2/3
After the outbreak is recognized, community screening is put in place. At first there are a lot of red communities, but, as containment goes into effect, red zones become surrounded by yellow and begin to contract until every community is blue, or cleared. 3/3
Instead of thinking about individuals we have to think about communities as being infected and that enables us to stop the outbreak.
