/I'm taking this down because it had the opposite effect of what I was hoping for. I think it's vital to read all reasonable views and put them out to the distributed intelligence on Twitter for a critical assessment. I took away a fairly simple insight from this post--its vital
/ to examine all of the potential unintended consequences to the policies we are currently following or are being discussed for future implementation. I did not consider political affiliations when I posted this nor did I consider how polarized those affiliations had become
/ to the point of rather than inviting comments and different views--several of which I retweeted because I thought they had a good and alternate point of view--but I think in total this and the responses has caused more noise than signal. For the record, I take this virus VERY
/ seriously and began taking the precautionary measures advocated around 14 days ago. I think they are sensible and will save a lot of lifes. But I also think we need to be broaden our thinking about what happens when/if the lockdown lasts for a significantly longer
/ period of time. One thing I advocated in two earlier threads is that any stimulus from the government focus on those most in need and I still absolutely think they should be our first priority. I'll continue to read broadly from the spectrum of views, but it's never been
/ my intention to get people drawing battlelines--in fact, my intention was quite the opposite. We desperately need to have a reasonable set of probabilities for what comes next and I don't think that can be achieved by shouting at each other. Live and learn. I hope everyone
/ is safe and healthy and thank everyone, especially our healthcare workers on the frontlines for their amazing efforts. Be safe.
