1. quick thread on how Trump's pattern of lies on contradictions, even during nat'l emergency, looks a lot like the pattern of lies and contradictions Putin has been using for years w/ Russian press.

2. the objective is to create a nonstop loop of puzzlement to the point where it's not possible to understand what Trump's policy is and what direction the federal government is going. All the while attacking the news media in order to create confusion about the facts.

Trump is doing a terrible job handling #coronavirus - So why are his approval numbers going up? A thread about polling, politics and people....
In the last two weeks #Trump has hit the highest approval numbers of his presidency. Upwards of 60% approval for handling the pandemic specifically and between 47-49% overall job approval. Which, seems shocking given the administration's horrible messaging
There are 3 likely reasons for this. First, hard as it is to believe but most Americans aren't online and get their news locally. They only see snippets pressers, so they don't actually KNOW how bad #Trump is doing, and assume he is doing his best (a low bar for him)

A THREAD ABOUT #COVID19 (#coronavirus) -
COVID-19, also known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) because of how genetically similar it is to the SARS virus from 2002.
To compare to other coronaviruses in recent history:

SARS 2002 had a much higher mortality rate of 9.6% (8,089 total cases / 774 deaths)
MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) from 2012 had a mortality rate of 34% (2494 total cases / 858 deaths)
Ebola, a recent outbreak that was not due to a coronavirus strain of virus, had a whopping mortality rate of about 40%, with 28,639 confirmed cases with 11,316 deaths.

COVID-19 so far has 75,204 confirmed cases according to WHO's sitrep on 20/2/2020 with 2009 deaths

First check to see if they bothered to add any variability whatsoever in the model they are using to supposedly report actual numbers from a complex system.

The mortality rate they want you to report is the - 0 day rate: Today's Confirmed Death total minus Today's Confirmed Case total.

This has not varied outside of 1/10th of 1% in the last 5 prints.

But even a minor adjustment of a few days in the mortality rate paints an entirely different picture
