this feels like kind of a wild ask, so feel free to scroll on past, but here’s the thing. while i freely, joyfully offer my time and labor, physically attending and taking notes in court has cost me a little money over the past few months.
i’m not counting the handwarmers i’ve used (& distributed) at park watches (& outdoor jail board hearings), the coffee & cigarettes that’ve occupied my hands outside the courthouse & in the parks, gas, the occasional takeout meal between court & city council, when time’s tight...
i’m just talking parking, pens, and notebooks. parking in downtown cville is all 2 hour, except the paid garage. you can’t move your car every two hours during an all day hearing.
there are folks out here doing more work, more important work, folks who’ve been doing it longer and at greater personal risk, folks in far greater need, so i feel very weird even bringing it up. and if you haven’t given to those folks yet, stop reading now and do that.
