Holy crow this is bad. Nunes is trying to get top secret intelligence that will out a Russian source. His unethical crusade to stop Mueller could actually cost lives and irreparably damage US intelligence gathering efforts. This is nuts.
Can you imagine being an allied intelligence agency right now? Worried about your information being passed on to committees where your sources could be leaked? (As if Trump wasn't just vomiting up info to the Russians in the Oval Office already.)
I suspect that working relationship between 5 eyes remain strong. But these are the kinds of things that would keep senior leadership up at night.
Sources put their lives at risk, but are promised by intelligence services they will be protected as much as possible. That an elected official is trying to actively undermine the fundamental basis of this agreement is mind-boggling. Who'd give up info under these conditions?
"Yeah, we'll protect your identity but there's this ideological nightmare on the oversight committee who might out you if he thinks he can get something trending on twitter for 15 minutes."
