On #MothersDay the story of Dhai Panna of Mewar must be remembered. Her sacrifice, loyalty and patriotism was unparallelled. She was the maid of Rani Karnavati and caretaker of Udai Singh, son of Rana Sanga. (1/6)

Udai Singh was born in 1522. He had 3 elder brothers. One of them Vikramaditya by 1536 was sent to palace arrest by the nobles due to his arrogance, incompetence and vile temper
The nobles invited Banvir the illicit son of Prithviraj (Rana Sanga's uncle) as regent of Udai. (2/6)
Taking advantage of Vikramaditya's Banvir killed and then he wanted to kill Udai Singh and become king of Mewar
Panna Dhai was a widow and she had a son called Chandan near the same age of Udai Singh
She got to know of Balvir coming with a sword in hand to kill Udai Singh. (3/6) Image

1. 1.We attended court last November to support this Surrogate Mother (SM) in the case to ‘set aside’ the Parental Order. We understand this case to be a one of a kind which was won on the basis of consent which we will explore in an upcoming blog but first some background…
2. The SM’s relationship with newly-introduced Commissioning Parents (CPs) progressed quickly and the first donor egg conceived embryo was transferred within 6 months. There was no long history of friendship and this all took place without guidance of an agency. #surrogacy

It's hard to express the emotions and happiness that she is feeling. Imagine the lady that has spent her whole life in the village and did not even see the aeroplane from a close angle.
Yes, she became the first one from her generation to travel abroad and the second lady from my village (Of course first one is my wife). This is a pretty special moment for my family and me!

The only thing that hurts me is that I wish my dad was around to experience this!

We all know that babies inherit their microbiome from mum👩‍👧(vertical gene transfer).

First time ever, a brand new🔥study finds another novel mechanism for microbiome sharing between mothers & their infants: horizontal gene 🧬 transfer.

Why is this totally crazy?

Let's unpack🧵 Image
Let's first clarify why these findings might seem shocking:

This paper found hundreds of mother-to-infant gene bacterial transmission events WITHOUT transmission of the full bacterial genomes themselves.

This is called horizontal gene transfer.

cell.com/cell/fulltext/…
This paper, a #multiomics longitudinal study just out in @CellCellPress, tracked the co-development of microbiomes & metabolomes from late pregnancy to 1 year of age in 70 mother-infant pairs.

Top 5 main findings, explained👇 Image

I ended up on the streets outside a temple with nowhere to go and was finally aided by a trans community.

I do not want anyone else to ever feel the way I did or go through the challenges I faced.”, says Rajkumari Kinnar from #Jharkhand .
He single-handedly raised a family of orphaned kids and spent 2/3rd of her earnings on the needy.

While facing massive backlash from members of the transgender community, she took care of 5 girls and 3 boys, including a 9-month-old baby.

Upon being asked by the judge, if he worried about Sushmita’s marriage after adopting a child, her father replied.

"While no father would be okay with that, he was sure he never raised her to only be some worried.

"Mommy, sometimes a part of me feels like it would be easier to have a different mommy. Not always and not me fully. Am I hurting you by saying this?" I have been preparing for 2 years to answer this question & I aced it! #parenting in #NEISVoid #LongCovid #motherhood🧵1/n
First, I lightened the mood my saying "believe me, I would like to be a different person as well, in a different body". He smiled immediately.
Next, I acknowledged that his thoughts were perfectly rational & had no malice at all. 2/n
I went on to explain that I was not upset. He simply wants to go on playdates with friends without worrying about infecting mommy & making her more sick, or go eat out in restaurants or not be the only kid in class masking. Any kid would want that, any adult would too! 3/n

ماں کا کچن سانجھا ہوتا ہے

In the TNG episode "When the Bough Breaks" (S01E17), a dying race steals some of the children from the Enterprise. An obviously upset mother asks Picard "How are you going to get them back?"
Beverly responds with "Sit down... don't give in to fear. We all knew what the risks were when we signed on, and that's the choice we made."
WHAT? Who thought this was a good line for her to say?
I don't remember her feeling that way when Wesley's life was on the line because his goofy ass can't catch a ball in "Justice" (S01E08).

Image

A conversation between 2 twins while they are in the womb of their mother. Pretty profound. Got it in a mail. #MOTHER #motherhood #conversation #mondaythoughts #MondayMotivation
============================

In a mother’s womb were two babies..._
One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?”

The other replied, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”
“Nonsense,” said the first. “There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?” The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here.

It isn't easy to go through monthly menstruation cycle for years just to be a mother and deliver kids.

It is not easy to let Woman's body adapt to the changes, to accommodate a baby inside Her body, to nourish it, to care for it.
It is not easy to undergo emotional upheavals and hormonal imbalance during pregnancy, it is not easy to throw up or feel nauseated all the time. It is not easy to walk carefully, minding each step with a baby inside Her.

It is not easy to be go to doctor for regular check ups
And regular sonographies

It is not easy to swallow medicines, and keep up with good nutrition and change her routine and herself for the baby .

It is painful process , the labour pains are no jokes either. To get cut open with a horizontal C section or to push the baby

#Parenting with #antivax parents: a thread.
When I was young, my antivax mom always told me that I would have to do my own research about #vaccines. When I grew up & my research led me to get myself vaccinated, she was upset.
The early conversations with my mom about my decision to get #vaxxed were difficult & emotional for us both. My mom felt like I was rejecting her. I felt betrayed.
Getting #vaccinated as an adult is an annoying & embarrassing process. I was ashamed to explain to doctors why I needed vaccines I should have gotten in childhood. I had to take time off work to get multiple doses of certain vaccines.

It stings when I see "inclusive" things like this leave out #birthmothers.

As #parents you hope to make the choice that's best for your #child. Some of us had to come to the hard truth that we were not what was best for our child or children. #biomom #birthmother #MothersDay
Making that agonizing decision does not take away the fact that we carried our little ones for nine months and gave #birth to them. It does not negate the excruciating #pain of walking away. It doesn't make it any easier. #biomom #birthmother #MothersDay
Our #motherhood is just as valid & I truly wish that people understood that. I didn't just give my baby away. I gave her the best life I could.

So here's to all the birthmothers out there. I see you. I know you. I wish you a #happymothersday.

My eldest son gave his first Friday sermon and led his first Friday prayer last week & I am shamelessly gonna take all the credit😊.
Though I know we merely plant the seeds. Allah is the One who makes them grow & blossom.
Alhamdulillah. Thumma Alhamdulillah.
One of the blessings of #motherhood & #fatherhood is...seeing the the seeds you planted in their childhood bring forth fruit. And why should you not beam with joy when you see them? You invested years of your life, hours of your time nurturing that seed.
We don’t need to lead prayers to be empowered women...we’re in the business of raising Imams! Our influence is there in every thought that crosses their mind and that they convey to their congregations.
