Walking up to news that your shitty, racist former boss who helped mainstream the toxic, self-victimization of White Male nerd culture FINALLY being outed as a garbage person by his abused ex-girlfriend is somewhat cathartic to say the least. RIP, Chris Hardwick’s career.
For the uninitiated, here’s Chloe’s essay: medium.com/@skydart/rose-…
1. Since Hardwick’s talking, here’s one things at happended: I produced a Nerdist web series Chloe guest starred on. He called day before the shoot furious she was going to kiss a man on screen. Tried to explain that it was a comedic kiss, not romantic; he wouldn’t hear it.
2. He said something along the lines that he “can’t have the whole world see his girlfriend kiss another man” (paraphrasing since this was 6 yrs ago); demanded the scene be rewritten. My team and I eventually reached a compromise, since kiss was a joke:
3. Hardwick was to be in the scene as well. So, it ended up: Hardwick, Chloe, another actor for a scene in which Chloe (in character) destructively and aggressively pounces on a man w/o his consent (not a joke we’d write in 2018), then does the same to Hardwick.
4. That’s one example of Hardwick controlling Chloe.
5. The blacklisting was real as well. I personally do not have an email from a Hardwick associate, since it happened months after I left Nerdist, but people who still worked there told me, and Chloe posted about it on social media, distressed, which I remember reading.
6. I also know blacklisting was real since Hardwick had his then-acting CEO try to do the same to me after I left, (around same time of Chloe’s blacklisting) sending an email threatening to sue if I associated with anyone in entertainment. I had attorney friends message them—
7. —Threatening to countersue, proving I didn’t sign non-compete clauses, intellectual property clauses, nor NDAs. Nerdist stopped responding and didn’t take matters further.
8. I only mention that to back up Chloe’s claims of blacklisting. My experiences with the Hardwick team as an employee is vastly different then her intimate experiences of physical and mental abuse. So, I won’t belittle her’s by talking further about mine. On a later date.
People are wondering who The Woman who had Chloe blacklisted on Hardwick’s behalf was. I don’t know who exactly (I have suspicions) but the man who would’ve actually had part in implementing it on behalf of Nerdist/Legendary currently runs Lionsgate’s digital division.
