Hello, you wonderful people, it's time to look at some comic sales!

My name is Bruno I'll be your host tonight while we take a quick look at the weeks of the 6th and the 15th of June!
(we couldn't do it last week so we'll have to catch up now. And life's little vicissitudes keep getting in the way so don't have time to go in deep, meaning we'll focus mainly on #1s, cool? Cool)
So first, the week of the 6th of June!
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP #1, around 80% first week sell through, meaning it sold only slightly better than the tail end of the previous series.
Not much excitement for this one.
Not an #1, but BLACK BOLT TP VOL 02 came out and out customers where thirsty for it, and we nearly sold out of it on the first week!

(collected editions are ordered to last a good couple of weeks as they have a much longer shelf life)
(single issues are MOSTLY ordered for their first week sales. There are exceptions that keep on selling afterwards regardless but mostly a single issue lives or dies on the strength of their first week performance)
BROTHER NASH #1 was one of our best #1s from Titan in a while and handily sold out.
CELLIES #1 didn't see anyone picking it up from the shelf. Curious if this will move from back issue shelves, but like I said, first week is the most important indicator.
Shout out to DARK NIGHTS METAL DELUXE EDITION, that did more in the first week than a lot of trades do in a month if they're lucky. Lots of buzz for that one here in the store!
DAZZLER X SONG #1 with a strong 80% first week.

She's a character that a lot of people are fond of...
It's because of the rollerskates, isn't it?
DEADPOOL #1, was only ok, even if it sold almost double of what the last issue of DESPICABLE DEADPOOL did.
But we expected better, seeing how for example VENOM #1 did and that one doesn't have a movie to promote it like DEADPOOL does.
But a few things to consider here. First, Marvel seems to launch a new DEADPOOL [SOMETHING] #1 nearly every two weeks, so that diminishes the impact of what should have been a big deal relaunch,
So for a lot of people, when they see a new DEADPOOL #1, the natural reaction is
Also... it was 4.99. And for a lot of people, that is just
I know that from Marvel's POV, they are giving the reader extra content for only the one extra buck but trust me, a LOT of readers rather save that extra buck. So they pick something else. Simple as.
Having said that, the book WAS pretty good, and it's something we can confidently recommend to people going forward. And kids will buy lots of itr anyway.
DOCTOR STRANGE #1, 85% first week, adding a good few readers to what we had at the end of the Cates run. Nothing extraordinary, but a nice little bump.
HALO COLLATERAL DAMAGE #1, 40% first week.
I dunno what happened to our Halo regular buyers, but they didn't seem to go for this series.
(at least yet)
IMMORTAL HULK #1, this NEARLY sold out for us (1 copy left!) and performed excellently!
Our Hulk sales have been very low for the last while. so this was a pleasant surprise.
Little aside here, INFINITY COUNTDOWN does its usual low numberst.

So as a retailer, you have to wonder, is this what the actual event will sel like, or will the people turn up for that?

Anyone here excited for the actual event but not buying COUNTDDOWN?
Shout out to ISOLA #3 for nearly selling out again! Man, we love this book!
Oh, excuse me for two minutes while I get my cuppa.

Please look at this gif and learn deeply from it on the meantime, thanks.
JUSTICE LEAGUE #1! Man, that did gooood!
Nearly 3 times the sales of the previous JUSTICE LEAGUE series!
The main cover and our Jock variants did gangbusters!

The Jim Lee B cover, not so much.
Would have prefered iof that Lee variant was more JUSTICE LEAGUE and less BATMAN, think it would have helped sell it, but, you live and you learn.
SPAWN #286 did that cool thing where the variants was the same artwork but coloured by different people and our customers didn't care and bought like one extra copy compared to its regular numbers.
You live and you learn.
SWORD DAUGHTER #1 had a very low debut at 30% first week sell through,
UNEXPECTED #1 was a victim of the general apathy towards DC' NEW AGE OF SUPER-HEROES thing, 47% first week.
VAGRANT QUEEN #1, 70% first week on some very decent numbers, happy with that!
And finally for that week, shout out to WASTED SPACE #2 for actually selling more in the first week than #1!
Love when that happens!
And now we look at the highlights of the week of the 15th of June, i.e. last week if you're calendar-deprived right now
BATMAN PRELUDE TO THE WEDDING BATGIRL VS RIDDLER #1 has actually been our best selling one of these one-shots so far.
these on-shots are actually picking up steam as they go on, wonder if by the time of the wedding we'll have people looking for the full set...
BY NIGHT #1 did the exact same numbers as GIANT DAYS. Which is not bad, but it's a shame it didn't go a bit bigger for us.
CODA #2's numbers went down a cliff, we only sold a quarter of what we did of #1.
DEADPOOL ASSASSIN #1, 60%.
Yes, I know, it's another DEADPOOL with an #1 on it, and only a week after the last DEADPOOL with an #1 on it.
DOMINO #3 sold more than #1 (and #2). not something you see often!

Great word of mouth on this one!
Around 70% for HAWKMAN #1. Didn't know what to expect with this one due to the ...convoluted story of the character, but this one did alright! And it's another one with lots of great reviews from customers.
MAGIC ORDER #1 did phenomenally well!

BUT we still have loads of copies left because we ain't no mugs and we knew this would be incredibly hot for us.
So if your local doesn't have #1 any more, hit us up, we can sort you out! And yes,we do post all over the world!
(that's Pitbull. Because he's Mr. Worldwide. And we post worldwide. So what are you not getting about it)
We also did really well with our Ben Oliver variant, and we suspect that those numbers are only going to go up as we have a variant for everyone of the single issues!

#getthatnetflixmoney
MARVEL RISING ALPHA #1 did 40% from the new shelf but who cares, that will sell for ages from the kids' comics shelves! Kids comics have such different lifespan that way!
MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE ANNUAL #1, we did nearly double our normal numbers on this because it was arted by Dec and Jordie and then Dec came in to sign our copies because he's a babe!
(we still have signed copies left if you want one, but not that many, FYI)
NANCY DREW #1, 90% first week! Get a great creative team and some freaking awesome covers and things just sell!

#comics101
PLASTIC MAN #1, 70% first week. Very decent numbers on a hard sell. There hasn't been a Plastic Man book in so long and that character has been out of people's minds for years, so nice job by Gail, Adriana and Kelly on this one, people came in for you mostly!
PROXIMA CENTAURI #1, 10% first week. This one broke my heart. (the sales, not the comic)
STELLAR #1 was another underperformer 30% first week.
THOR #1, 60% first week. Good, but lower than expected. Only a bit better than the previous MIGHTY THOR series, to be honest.
TITANS SPECIAL #1 sold out, and I was surprised as it we had ordered extra thinking it would be one of those books people would look for when the new Titans directions start, but guess people were up for it right NOW?
VENOM #2, still doing around 3 times what the old series was doing and lots of good curiosity about it!

#tthatCatesStegmancombo
And finally for tonight (how is it 10PM already?!), WEATHERMAN #1. We really like this book, but guess we'll have to push it a lot harder on our customers as it only did 32% in the first week!
And that's it for tonight! Less ranty and in deep than in usual, apologies! See you all in store!
