As a marketer, I have spent 25+ years studying the American consumer/voter. As a group, we have huge hearts, we are very charitable. We always err towards compassion.

@drawandstrike simple, common-sense solutions to complex problems. When faced with an ugly situation versus a somewhat-distasteful-yet-simple solution, Americans choose the simple, common-sense solution. I would say that’s a good explanation as to how we got Trump in the first place.
@drawandstrike If Americans are forced to see children taken from their parents after Trump signed this EO as we are forced to sit through the ugly, weeks-long process of creating legislation, most voters (at least half, maybe many more) are going to demand a simple solution to keeping
@drawandstrike families together. To get to this point, Trump doesn’t even need a legislative win. He just needs a tie in the form of an ugly process, which most legislation tends to be lately.

@drawandstrike And while Americans are full of compassion, they also see (IMHO) the mess created by a catch-and-release solution in which the vast majority of those released vanish into the interior of the country.

@drawandstrike And if it DOES happen, it will be because of the legal and legislative responses of the Democrats (and a variety of other never-Trumpers) to the EO Trump signed today, which should solve the immediate issue as recognized by literally everyone.
