Happy #Friday (weather in 🇭🇰gloom doomy like cloudy EM outlook). Some speculating on #China #USA talk (concession/negotiating style/respite coming?). No answer here but u know what @Trinhnomics thinks (USD liquidity more key). Let's look at cultural diff in negotiations!

American vs. Chinese negotiation:

1) American is direct (all cards on table - Trump wanting concessions on investment & trade) v. Chinese moderate & moralistic (protectionism bad etc/US the bully)

2) Both escalate/louder but Americans spell out what they want but China less so

3) Next, Americans tend to confront & provoke via sarcasm & jokes why deals aren't reached while in China people tend to us TOUGH TALK & position of POWER (China saying it will not back down etc while Trump provokes).

4) The differences is how a RESOLUTION is reached

4) In China, you want to negotiate behind the scenes, look TOUGH & POWERFUL on the surface & defo don't want to LOSE FACE. In other words, a concession is made behind the scene to not lose face.

Americans COMMUNICATE/FIGHT/CONFRONT to come to resolutions. Key is SPEED/RESULTS

5) Now with all that cultural misunderstanding cleared, let's have a great weekend & hopefully we can all get what we want out of life etc! 🤗 (obvs can't b/c the basis of economics is that resources are limited)...
